Filey has both a bus and train station next to each other 5-10 minutes walk from the cottages.
These run to all neighboring towns and link to many cities in the West Riding
Hope cottages are near to Filey train station. Quite a few of our guests arrive by train and either get a taxi or walk their suitcase to the station. It is about a 10 minute walk away. As we are close to all the shops and attractions, it is easy to have a good holiday without a car.
Trains run north to Scarborough and then inland to York, Leeds and a few even go as far as Manchester (2h 41 min) without having to change.
Trains also run South to Bridlington and then onto Hull and Doncaster a few even going as far as Sheffield (around 3h) without changing.
While you are in Filey it can be a different way of visiting the neighboring resorts of Scarborough and Bridlington avoiding traffic and parking problems. Last return trains are very early evening, so check. You can check actual train times at Trainline.com.
The Main routes are:
From the North The A171 to Scarborough then the A165 followed by the A1039 to Filey
From the West The A64 from York. Just after Staxton take the A1039 to Muston, then right along the A165, after 100 yards turn left into Filey.
From the South West The A614 from Howden to Driffield. At Driffield take the B1249 to Staxton to join the A64. Just after Staxton take the A1039 to Muston, then right along the A165, after 100 yards turn left into Filey.
If you fancy a change, there is a slightly quicker route from Driffield taking the smaller roads over the Wolds .
You can see this route on Google maps, It is shorter and usually quicker with very little traffic. After you have got on the B1249 to Staxton from the Driffield roundabout take the next right (a mile or so from the roundabout). You are then aiming to go through Kilham, Burton Fleming and Hunmanby. Some of the roads are narrow and the signs are not that good but it is a more direct route and through countryside. We would always use this route rather than the A roads.
Hope Cottages position on Filey seafront
The best way is to see our position is on Google maps . To find us head for the town centre and just keep going straight down Cargate Hill and we are at the bottom on the right. Our cottages are on the corner where Cargate Hill meets The Beach . You can then drag the little man to the junction which takes you to street view, allowing you to see a 360 degree view of our cottages and their position very clearly.
The address of the cottages is: 24 The Beach, Filey, North Yorkshire, YO14 9LA. Please do not use this address for correspondence.
