If you like the view from Filey webcam below which is taken from Hope Cottages in Filey maybe you would like to stop in our cottages and enjoy the view over Filey Bay all the time. Check our up to date availability to see if we have a suitable vacancy for you and your family.
Filey webcam is pointing North East and you should be able to see Filey Brigg in the distance. The image updates every 2 minutes but not automatically. Refresh your browser to see the new image.
PLEASE if you see something interesting, save the image and email it to me and I will add it to the shots at the bottom of this page. The system does not save the photos. One lady emailed me to say she thought she saw a fish near the Brigg right out of the water in mid-air on one shot and asked what type of fish it could be. This was around the time dolphins had been seen in the bay. I feel sure it was a dolphin, as a fish near the Brigg would have been too small to see with the camera.
The image may get blurred during strong easterly winds until we clean the salt spray off. Drop us an email if you notice it getting blurred or it is not updating and we will sort it as soon as we can. The cold weather can cause condensation and this also gives a blurred image, usually just on a morning. We have installed a custom micro heater which we hope will prevent this. Please take time to like us on facebook. I hope anglers, surfers and all those who use the sea find it useful. I have also had appreciative feedback from people who enjoy the HD image of a beautiful part of the Yorkshire coast.
The windy website records our Filey webcam images and you can look back up to 5 years. The page also opens with an imprssive wind map of europe
They include sunrises, lifeboat and a UFO over Filey Bay
I have had several UFO experts contact me about the UFO photo apparently hovering over Filey Brigg. It really does look convincing. I happened to be at Filey at the time and saw it, so quickly saved the image. The images are not normally saved. The photos the webcam takes are quite big allowing for the quality image. they would soon fill the online storage so are deleted as the new one is uploaded. I knew exactly what it was. One of the experts also realised what it was. The top of the moon peeping out from a layer of cloud with another thicker layer of cloud above it.
The all weather lifeboat has now been replaced by an Atlantic. RIB.
Whenever it is rough, the number of people looking at the webcam increases dramatically. Even more when it is rough and a high tide is forecast with warning of coastal flooding. One lady emailed me to say that she thought she could see fish jumping at the end of the Brigg. Fish would be too small to see with this lens but the webcam could well have caught dolphins which were about at the time. PLEASE if you see something interesting, save the image and email it to me and I will add it to the shots below. The system does not save the photos.
