Filey parking for our holiday cottages

Two important things to note as we have no on-site off-road parking.

  • Most of our regular visitors get their car parked opposite the cottages on the first evening and leave it there for the whole week at no cost.
  • You will not have to look for a parking place every day to visit Filey as most visitors do during the week. You are already there. You can easily walk across the road to the beach and all the other attractions of Filey from your front door.

All the shops you need are within a few hundred yards walk as well. A whole week without using your car if you want.

Where to park on arrival

Our guests park the car on the seafront when they can find a place. Filey seafront has unrestricted, free on street parking all along in front of the cottages (subject to the availability of spaces.) If they cannot find a place when they arrive they park it up in the town somewhere (most of Filey parking is unrestricted and free except the shopping area) or go to one of the 4 main pay and display car parks.

The coble landing/ravine and the one behind the bus station are around a 5-minute walk away, whereas West Avenue and the country park are around a 12-minute pleasant walk away along the sea front. Prices are around £5 for 4 hours.

That first evening they bring the car down and find a parking space on the seafront after the day visitors have left. Many of our regulars then leave it there free for the week. Below is a map showing the main car parks should you need to use them.

Filey Parking Map

Filey’s Country Park is one of the best car parks in all the resorts on the Yorkshire coast. This means that parking in Filey, close to the beach is always possible. The Country Park is close to the beach and the Coble Landing. It is good for picnics with glorious views. I have never known it full, so you can be assured of a place. It is at the top of the cliff, so a bit of a climb coming back up. Contrast that with Scarborough and Whitby, who have out of town park and rides (in the middle of nowhere) to cope with the busy days. This involves all the faff and waste of time in getting on buses to get anywhere.

There are three other useful car parks. The Coble Landing itself has very few places. The car parking on the Ravine leading to the Coble Landing is pay and display and considered by the council to be part of the Coble Landing car park.

The first section of the Ravine nearest the Coble Landing is reserved for permit holders. These are annual and bought mainly by local businesses and residents. Those with a blue badge are not permitted to park here.
