Filey has both a bus and train station next to each other 5-10 minutes walk from the cottages.
Many people are concerned about the carbon footprint of their holiday. In many cases three quarters of the carbon generated when you go on holiday is due to travel. This means cutting down the travel and using a train or a bus dramticaly reduces your carbon footprint. Staying in our holiday cottages and traveling here by bus or train certainly does that. Each day you are in the centre of Filey with all its attractions and beautiful walks and no need for a car. All the shops are only a few hundred yards away. If you wish to visit other places then the train or bus can get you to nearby resorts of Bridlington and Scarborough very quickly and there is even a train station at Bempton not that far from the famous Bempton bird sanctuary.
These run regularly to all neighboring towns and link to many cities in the West Riding
Hope cottages are near to Filey train station. Quite a few of our guests arrive by train and either get a taxi or walk their suitcase from the station. It is about a 10 minute walk away. As we are close to all the shops and attractions, it is easy to have a good holiday without a car.
Trains run north to Scarborough and then inland to York, Leeds and a few even go as far as Manchester (2h 41 min) without having to change.
Trains also run South to Bridlington and then onto Hull and Doncaster a few even going as far as Sheffield (around 2h 30 min).
While you are in Filey it can be a different way of visiting the neighboring resorts of Scarborough and Bridlington avoiding traffic and parking problems. Last return trains are early evening, so check. Recently services have been increased. You can check actual train times at Trainline.com.

OR
If you fancy a change, there is a slightly quicker route from Driffield taking the smaller roads over the Wolds .
You can see this route on Google maps, It is shorter and usually quicker with very little traffic. After you have got on the B1249 to Staxton from the Driffield roundabout take the next right (a mile or so from the roundabout). You are then aiming to go through Kilham, Burton Fleming and Hunmanby. Some of the roads are narrow and the signs are not that good but it is a more direct route and through countryside. We would always use this route rather than the A roads. It is both quicker and shorter.
The best way is to see our position is on Google maps . To find us head for the town centre and just keep going straight down Cargate Hill and we are at the bottom on the right. Our cottages are on the corner where Cargate Hill meets The Beach . You can then drag the little man to the junction which takes you to street view, allowing you to see a 360 degree view of our cottages and their position very clearly.
